Why soya granules sabzi recipe?
We are all aware of the evils of refined flour (maida) which is used in bread, noodles, and pastas. And yet as kids grow older we moms find it difficult to keep them away from burgers, pizzas, and cooked-in-a-couple-of-minutes noodles. I still have some time till Devansh reaches the stage where he’s going to get influenced by ads telling him how yummy chocolate biscuits and cereals are. And, how amazingly delicious these instant noodles taste. But till that time, I’m going to stick to serving simple, nutritious Indian fare to Devansh most of the times.
About my soya graules sabzi recipe:
Like most of my recipes, this one too is very Indian and very nutritious. Its main ingredient, soya granules, is a good source of dietary fiber, protein, and all essential amino acids. It is an excellent alternative for meat. Shilpi, whose recipe I have posted before this blog post, suggested that I introduce soya granules sabzi in Devansh’s diet. This is since, we don’t cook non-vegetarian food other than eggs at home.
I would like to share some very useful links of sites that I came across while writing this soya granules sabzi recipe. Soya Granules Sabzi Recipe
- 1/2 cup Nutrela soya granules
- 1/4th cup green peas
- 2 tsp mashed vegetables optional
- 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 small cinnamon stick
- 1 small bay leaf
- 1/2 onion chopped
- 1 small tomato pureed
- 1/4th tsp haldi turmeric powder
- 1/4th tsp red chili powder
- 1 tbsp home made ghee
- 1 piece lemon
- 1 tbsp chopped coriander
- salt to taste
- Boil 2 cups of water with some salt added to it.
- Add soya granules, boil them for 5-6 minutes, and then turn off heat.
- After 10 minutes drain out the water from the soya granules, rinse them a couple of times in fresh water.
- Squeeze out all the water from the soya granules and set them aside.
- Heat a pan and add ghee.
- Add cumin seeds and when they splutter add bay leaf and cinnamon stick.
- Add chopped onion and stir.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté till the onions turn golden brown.
- Add pureed tomato and sauté for a couple of minutes.
- Add haldi and chili powder, and sauté for 3-4 minutes.
- Add green peas and sauté for a couple of minutes.
- Add boiled soya granules and half cup water, and cover the pan.
- After 5 minutes, take off the lid, add salt and stir well.
- Cook the sabzi without a lid for 5 minutes, add mashed vegetables and stir well.
- Add chopped coriander, mix it well with the sabzi, and then turn off heat.
- Squeeze a little lemon juice in the sabzi and mix it well.
- Garnish the sabzi with chopped coriander and serve with hot chapatis.
